You can get Visio from the student software store, just like you can get Visual Studio from the student software store. And the way to do that is to go to our eCollege website, and then click on the Course Home button, and then click on Course Resources right underneath it.
And when you do that, you'll get a lot of resources over here-- the library, e-books. I mean, everything's over here. And if you scroll down, this is how you get to the iLab: the Citrix iLab. And you can use Visio, and you can also use Visual Studio on the Citrix iLab without installing anything, except for the Citrix client.
Now, if you want to install Visio on your local machine, what you want to do is just scroll down, and you'll see student software store right here. And then it tells you about it and gives you instructions on how to do that, and then right here, student software store. Now if you need assistance-- if you have problems and you need assistance, please call this 877 number. It's a free phone call, and they can answer questions for you and help you out.
All right, so here I'm going to go ahead and click on student software store. And that takes us out to the student software store. Now on your version, it'll say student right here, and it should show Microsoft Office. And you can actually get Microsoft Office for free as a student. So you just click on the Microsoft Office version and then you download it. And be careful when you download the Microsoft Office version, because you only get one download. And I've had people in the past accidentally download the Mac version when they needed the PC version. So if you need the PC version, make sure you get that one. If you need the Mac version, make sure you get that one. You only get one download for Microsoft Office.
All right, so now I'm going to come over here to DreamSpark, and this is where you want to go. Go to DreamSpark and click on it. And then, here, on DreamSpark, you'll notice Visual Studio 2015 is down here. And if you look over here, you can see Visio 2013 is right there. So for these software packages, you simply click on the image. And then here it says: Do you want Visio Professional 2013 with Service Pack 1? And this is the full installer. And this right here is the same thing, but this is the web installer. I strongly recommend that you get the full installer. It'll take longer to download, but then you'll be able to install it completely without having to be connected to the Internet. So this is the one that I strongly recommend that you download.
You come over here to the right hand side and you click on Add to Cart. And then, you see we've got this and then you come over here and-- that's a good price isn't it? All right, so you come over here, and you hit Check Out.
And then there's a license agreement. Make sure you go through that license agreement. And if you agree, hit I Accept. And then, right here, put in your name and your e-mail. And then put a check mark here if you want some e-mails about new releases, things like this. I always leave it blank, but if you do want to put a check mark there, go ahead and do so.
And then you hit Proceed with Order. Alright, and then you answer these questions here, and then you hit Next. And then it creates for you a license key, and then you want to hit Start Download. And then, this page right here comes up. And that license key, you want to make sure you copy paste that to text document, so that if you ever have to reinstall Visio, you're able to do so.
So then you come over here, and you download the secure download manager. And if you've already downloaded it one time, you don't have to do it again. You just download it one time. And I've already done that, so I'm going to come over to step number two. And on here, you just click Download SDX. And if you need more help, this gives you more help right over here. Then you can just click that and watch that video.
So right here, I'm going to go ahead and hit Open. And actually this is opening with WordPad, so that's not going to do much good for me. So that means, maybe I did not install the SDX. So I'm going to go ahead and hit Cancel. Actually, let me hit the drop down. Oh, there it is. I did install it. You can see it right there.
Alright so WordPad tried to open up by default. So I hit this and I go to Secure Download Manager right there. And then I hit OK, and then it starts downloading. Alright-- or it actually takes me to a download page. And then here on the download page, it tells you how big it is, so you can see this is going to take a while. And then I hit Start Downloading.
Alright, now the place that I have it pointed to is my desktop. So it's going to be downloaded to my desktop. You can change that location by simply clicking here, Change Location. Now this going to take a little bit to download. You can see it's taking three minutes or so, four minutes or so.
Once it downloads, it will download as an ISO file. And let me show you how the ISO files work. So if I come over here to My Computer, and I've got here my ISOs. Then here is-- let's see, where is Visio. There's Visio 2013 Professional. So I'm going to double click it.
And then you can see what I did is I did my license key and put into a separate file. Plus my download, my ISO, I put it into a separate file, and I put both of these into a hard drive. And then this hard drive: I also have it backed up on a portable hard drive as well. So if the hard drive goes down, I still have my installers. So it's very important that you keep your license key and you keep the installation ISO so that you can reinstall it. In case you buy a new computer, or if your hard drive goes down, you have to reinstall everything. You need to make sure you have it available.
So once you have the ISO, all you have to do is simply right click on it. And then you can mount it, and if you mount it, Windows will treat it like a DVD-- a separate DVD. Alright, now specifically what do I mean by that? If you look over here on my DVDs, here's My Computer. And you can see that I am not showing a DVD. Let's see, D E-- I do have a DVD, so a DVD should be showing over here. And apparently it's not showing because I don't have anything in my DVD. So and let's see-- nope, I don't see it over here. So no big deal.
If I click on This PC, all right, you can see there's my DVD. And its drive G. So if I come back over here to the ISO, and I right click on it, and then I say Mount, now look at this. It's actually treating it like Drive H. You see that right there? So if I go to This PC, and you can see I now have a brand new DVD, and that is Drive H.
Now what's in Drive H? That ISO file. And you can see that right here is that Visio installer, and all I have to do is simply double click on the Setup, and then just follow the instructions. And the instructions will ask for the license key, so I will copy from that document. I will copy the license key from there, and I will paste it into the installation. So when you double click on setup.exe, it will ask you to give that license key. So make sure you have that license key handy.
Now once you're done, once you finish installing Visio, you just come right over here to the H, and right click on it, and then hit Eject. And when you hit eject, it will unmount it. So now, if I go back over to my File Explorer, and I go to This PC, you see the H drive is now gone, because that ISO has now been unmounted. So you can see that, oh my gosh, that was just way too easy. That was just so easy. So I'm going to come back over here and look at my ISOs. And there is Visio 2013, and there is the ISO. So I'm maintaining these two files, so if I ever need to reinstall Visio on my computer, I have it available.
