Coaches, generals, politicians and business executives use it, but what exactly is strategic management? Many entrepreneurs who have little or no formal training in strategic management and business planning have been quite successful over the years. In fact, many of them would credit their success to intuition, luck, and being "in the right place at the right time." These same entrepreneurs would agree however, that having a game plan and being acquainted with the strategic management process would have helped them avoid many of the learning experiences (problems) they encountered when starting and growing their businesses. In this episode, we will examine the concepts of strategic management and how businesses use strategy to create a competitive advantage in their marketplace.
